The main differences between Socs and Greasers is that the Socs have a lot of money and have so much free time to do what ever they want and to get whatever they want. (Page 2) Most of them don’t have jobs because their parents are very wealthy. (Page 2) Here are some examples, they drive Mustangs and Corvairs and they jump greasers because they have nothing else to do. (Page 43) Greasers are very poor and some of them have jobs. (Page 3) They bairly can afford the cost of living and can’t always get what they want. (Page 40)
RIGHT! ~Mrs. Best
Week 1 Number 2We all know that the fifth commandment is: Thou shall not kill. With that in mind, tell me what you would be feeling AND what you would do now if you were Johnny at the end of Chapter 4?
If I were Johnny right now I would feel very badly about killing someone but on the other hand, Johnny was protecting Ponyboy. That wouldn't make me feel as bad because I knew that I was protecting one of my friends. I think that I wouldn't have run away like Johnny did because you could just tell the police that you were trying to protect your friend. I think that it is like when somebody would try to rob your house. You would be doing everything you could to protect yourself and others, so I don't think that Johnny would be going to jail or the electric chair for trying to protect someone from harm.
I think you are right! When the circumstances are known, it would be easy to understand why Johnny did what he did. ~Mrs. Best
Hey its John I loved your paragraph. I liked how you related it to other things. I would still feel very bad if i had killed someone. Sorry i'm all out of time!
Week 2 Number 3 B. Explain what Ponyboy finds out about Randy and the other Socs at the end of Chapter 7. Pony finds out that a lot of the Socs are just like him. They seem like they have the personality, but they hid it to look cool and tough. Ponyboy didn't realize this until he met Cherry. Then he talks with Randy a little bit and now I think that Ponyboy could be friends with them. They are very much alike. Randy even said that the fights don't do any good and that he doesn't want to fight. That is the same way Ponyboy feels. Like I said before, that the Greasers could be friendswith the Socs. The only problem is that I don't think that the Socs' parents will let them. I am predicting that the Socs and the Greasers are going to be friends secretly and not let the Socs' parents know.
I agree! ~Mrs. Best
Yeah I agree with you Bryce that their encounter might have sparked a friendship later on. However I thought that in the book it said that Ponyboy wanted to go the rumble. Also I think that the Socs parents wouldn't want them hanging out with the greasers because the parents despise them.

B. Explain what Two-Bit means when he says: "The only thing that keeps Darry from being a Soc is us." Two-Bit means that Darry has the brains and the goals in life to be a Soc. The reason he isn't one is because Soda and Pony are his family and they are greasers. Like it says in the book, Darry will go somewhere in life like the Socs. A lot of the greasers will just get worse, like Tim Shephard's gang. Another reason that Darry isn't a Soc, is because he grew up in an area with the greasers and that is where he made his friends. That is probably the main reason why he isn't a Soc. Well, his goal is not to be a soc, but to go to college like they do, and to make something of himself. That was not something greasers could dream of because they were all poor without a lot of parental supervision. They needed someone to believe in them. ~Mrs. Best
